WHAT WILL WE READ TOGETHER?
Voici le livre que j’ai choisi : Les Contes de Perrault (Perrault’s fairy tales) by Charles Perrault.
Did you know that the world famous fairy tales Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Bluebeard, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots, Donkey skin, Little Thumb, and many more, all had one thing in common? They were written by Charles Perrault, a 17th century French author, lawyer, et académicien!

Even though these world famous contes de fées (fairy tales) were written in the 17th century, they are very easy to read and understand as the French language hasn’t changed much in the past four centuries!
HOW IT WORKS
What will the Online French Book Club look like?
- A series of 4 classes
- Spread out over 4 weeks
- Each class will last 1.5 hours
- I will divide our tales into 4 parts, each part corresponding to 1 class.
I will be using this version of the book (below) and to make sure we all are on the same page (literally!) I will send you a copy so you don’t have to worry about ordering it.
The tales are normally quite short so we will ready and study 1 per class = 4 in total :
May 20 : Barbe Bleue (Bluebeard)
May 27 : La Belle au bois dormant (Sleeping beauty)
June 3 : Cendrillon (Cinderella)
June 10 : Riquet à la Houppe (Riquet with the Tuft)
