One more French Diary blog post only this time… from London! As you know from my 4 previous French diary blog posts (A French Woman in Seattle part 1 + A French Woman in Seattle part 2 + A French Woman in Seattle 3 + A French Woman in Seattle 4) I’ve been keeping you up to date and sharing my story with you throughout the whole month of February 2019, which I spent in my beloved Seattle. On my way back to France, I decided to stop in London UK for a few days, to organize my French Immersion Weekends in London (open for registration) this coming August! Very exciting!

 

Mais maintenant mes amis, it’s time for French.

 

You are now fully aware of the purpose of these diary blog posts: to help you practice your French! And so, I write them in French. If you have any questions and find the dictionary to be uncooperative, leave a comment below so we can all help each other! But don’t worry I’m purposely keeping it simple, simple words, simple verbs (mostly present tense, future tense too), simple sentence structures, yet incorporating some useful everyday expressions too! C’est parti!

 

Vendredi 1er mars

Et voilà. Mon aventure “Seattleite” est terminée. J’ai fait mes au revoir à tout le monde. Ma valise est (difficilement) fermée. Bref, je suis prête. Je n’y reviens pas, j’ai déjà expliqué la semaine dernière: A French Woman in Seattle 4.

 

Samedi 2 mars

Avec le décalage horaire de huit heures entre Seattle et Londres + mes émotions fortes (et c’est un doux euphémisme) + mon cours de philo que je dois terminer de lire, je ne dors pas, et j’arrive à Londres le lendemain vers les dix heures du matin. Autant dire que je ne me sens pas très fraîche. Ceci étant dit, j’ai de la chance d’arriver à Heathrow parce qu’au lieu de prendre le train (je déteste les trains anglais) je peux prendre le métro (j’adore le métro anglais) ou je devrais plutôt dire le “tube”! C’est tellement plus simple.

 

 

Me voilà donc en route sur la fameuse Piccadilly Line qui m’emmène doucement mais sûrement, chez mon amie Emeline! Et oui j’ai des amies partout ha ha! Non ce n’est pas vrai bien sûr, mais puisque j’ai vécu à Londres pendant plusieurs années, forcément, j’y connais pas mal de gens!

 

Emeline est une masseuse aux mains (et aux coudes!) magiques! Voici une photo d’elle en action et voici son site internet La Très Zen. Elle travaille aujourd’hui à The House of Yoga dans le quartier londonien Putney, où elle rencontre et masse ses clientes toute la journée. Quelle énergie!

 

 

J’arrive chez elle, totalement épuisée et je fais une mini sieste avant qu’elle revienne et prépare le dîner. Évidemment je voudrais l’aider et demande: “Qu’est-ce que je peux faire?” mais elle répond toujours la même chose: “Rien. Assieds-toi et tiens-moi compagnie!” Ha ha ok c’est pas trop difficile je peux faire ça!

 

Nous dînons, nous papotons, nous papotons… nous papotons… jusqu’à 4 heures du matin! Mon Dieu! Je suis officiellement complètement folle! Je dois me réveiller à 8 heures du matin pour une longue journée de travail et de rencontres avec les entrepreneuses françaises qui feront partie de mes “French Immersion Courses” ici à Londres. Bon, tant-pis. Quatre heures de sommeil, c’est mieux que rien!

 

Dimanche 3 mars

Et voilà le résultat… quatre heures de sommeil en deux jours = visage fatigué!

 

 

Et pour en rajouter une couche (ou non ha ha!) je ne me maquille pas parce que mettre du maquillage sur un visage épuisé, personnellement, je trouve ça hyper désagréable.

 

Aucune importance, je me sens pleine d’énergie car je vais enfin rencontrer les femmes françaises (je souligne au passage que je n’ai rien contre les hommes mais que tous les entrepreneurs français que je trouve à Londres sont des femmes!) qui feront partie des “French Immersion Courses” à Londres au mois d’août.

 

Premier rendez-vous: Margaux Cras, fondatrice du Salon Margaux dans le quartier londonien Finsbury Park. Voici une courte vidéo en français avec des sous-titres français, dans laquelle Margaux se présente, ainsi que son entreprise qui cartonne: un salon de coiffure & ongles bio, vegan, et éthique! Un concept excellent et qui me tient à coeur.

 

Vous apprécierez sa diction lente et très claire, elle s’exprime ainsi spécialement pour vous étudiants qui apprenez le français. Merci Margaux!

 

 

Une belle visite, un bel échange avec Margaux, mais pas seulement: j’ai aussi eu le plaisir de discuter avec son staff et ses clients, dont une boulangère française! Une ambiance vraiment agréable et familiale!

 

Bon maintenant j’ai faim, direction Whole Foods pour déjeuner, avant de retrouver une autre Française entrepreneuse dans un autre quartier londonien charmant: Russell Square.

 

Je vous présente Fanny Malgras créatrice de Reveryz Jewels: des petits bijoux faits main, ravissants, délicats, en plaqué or et sertis de pierres semi-précieuses.

 

 

Adorable, n’est-ce pas? N’hésitez pas à aller voir sa boutique Etsy, et faites-vous plaisir! Fanny envoie ses bijoux dans le monde entier, et d’ailleurs aujourd’hui elle a envoyé un paquet à Seattle!

 

 

Je ne sais pas vous mais moi, je suis fan! J’ai bien sûr aussi tourné une vidéo avec Fanny et vous la verrez bientôt! Pourquoi? Parce que Fanny fera partie de notre équipe durant les “French Immersion Courses” à Londres. Elle partagera son parcours personnel ainsi que professionnel avec vous, dans la joie et la bonne humeur!

 

Après ça, je me dirige vers Holborn. Et oui vous avez deviné, un autre quartier de Londres! Mais cette fois-ci très près de mon dernier rendez-vous. Zut il pleut! Et je n’ai pas de parapluie. Et mes chaussures sont en tissu. Crotte! Heureusement, j’ai une capuche et c’est mieux que rien! Mon troisième rendez-vous pour aujourd’hui consiste à visiter la salle que j’ai trouvée sur Internet et dans laquelle je souhaite enseigner mes “French Immersion Courses” à Londres. Après un sans-faute, je dois bien avouer que je me retrouve face à une déception: je n’aime pas la salle. Ça ne va pas. Ça n’est pas ce que je veux. Zut zut et triple zut.

 

Lundi 4 mars

C’est très efficacement qu’Emeline et moi commençons cette belle journée! Et oui, Emeline aussi a droit à sa vidéo (en français avec les sous-titres français) dans laquelle elle nous explique son passage du milieu de la mode (nous travaillions ensemble en 2006 dans une des rues les plus chic de Londres: New Bond Street et c’est ainsi que nous sommes devenues amies!) au milieu du bien être.

 

 

Aaaaaah et maintenant directement South Kensington, un de mes quartiers préférés à Londres! D’ailleurs saviez-vous que c’est le quartier français de Londres? Vous y trouverez l’ambassade de France, le consulat de France, L’institut français, le lycée français, toutes sortes de boutiques françaises, et et et… le bureau du Magazine français Ici Londres où je me rends ce matin!

 

Quelle belle matinée je passe avec toute l’équipe du Magazine Ici Londres, une fois de plus, seulement des femmes (je vous assure que je ne fais pas exprès!) et toutes françaises naturellement!

 

 

Ici Londres est un magazine mensuel gratuit et un site internet de référence pour la communauté francophone et francophile à Londres. Créé en 1998, il est distribué à 35 000 exemplaires par mois partout à Londres!

 

Nadège (elle porte un tee-shirt bleu en bas de la photo) est la rédactrice en chef du magazine et fera elle aussi partie de notre équipe lors des “French Immersion Courses”. Elle viendra nous parler de Bordeaux (sa ville d’origine qu’elle adore), de sa vie passionnante à Londres, du magazine, de toutes ses interviews… une conversation fascinante à l’horizon!

 

Comme pour Fanny, j’ai bien sûr aussi tourné une vidéo avec Nadège et vous la verrez bientôt!

 

Pause déjeuner au café du Victoria & Albert Museum (très chic!!) puis je n’ai qu’à faire quelques pas pour aller retrouver mon dernier rendez-vous, un rendez-vous culinaire cette fois-ci! Voici Stéphanie Quénan AKA Stef le Chef, la pro de la madeleine!

Stéphanie travaillait dans une grande banque à la City de Londres, avant de décider de complètement changer de carrière! Une des choses qui m’a tout de suite séduite chez Stéphanie, c’est son slogan: “From banker to baker!” Géniale cette idée, non?

 

 

Comme pour Fanny, Emeline, et Nadège, la vidéo (en français avec des sous-titres français) de Stéphanie arrivera bientôt! Stef le Chef fera aussi partie des “French Immersion Courses” à Londres, mais elle, en plus de discuter avec nous, elle nous donnera des cours de cuisine… en français bien sûr!

 

Ouh la la, nous discutons, nous rigolons, et je ne vois pas l’heure passer! Il faut que je rentre vite chez Emeline, où je dois préparer ma valise, lui faire un gros bisou, lui dire au revoir, et filer à l’aéroport!

 

Bye bye Londres et à très bientôt!
